YOUNG_ADULLLT Panel Discussion on EU Research Projects at WWU

In early December, the WWU Centre for Europe and the Service-Point ProEU (WWU) invited to a panel discussion on "EU funded research of the WWU – Retrospect and Outlook" with experts from policy and research, in particular those directly involved in EU-funded research projects.

After a welcome by the Vice-rector for Research of the WWU, Professor Monika Stoll, and some introductory words from Professor Jörg Becker, director of the WWU Centre for Europe, Dr. Roman Walega, Managing Director of the WWU's representational office in Brussels presented an overview of activities, highlighting first previous results and insights but also future challenges in the current Framework Programme. A lively discussion ensued on the topics of 'lessons learned' and upcoming challenges with regard to the current Framework Programme for Research and Innovation; in particular, the question what is to come after Horizon 2020. Drawing on his experience in the coordination of the YOUNG_ADULLLT project, Marcelo Parreira do Amaral, shared insights from the application and implementation process. Other key discussants included, among others, Dr. Wilfried Diekmann, EU-office at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Dr. Katharina Steinberg head of the Research Affairs department of the WWU, and Oliver Panzer, director of European Research Services.
